Sweatshop Conditions At Money Gym

chris_barrow Sweatshop Conditions At Money GymMy ex-business coach, Chris Barrow just posted a blog post entitled “How Can We Be Expected To Work In Such Conditions?” and really, I have to agree with him! http://tinyurl.com/5wvbbe

I woke up at 6.30 this morning to another day of glorious sunsine - and the beach just over the road.

I’m tempted to just get my swimsuit out and grab my iPod and catch some rays while listening to a bit of Rich Schefren and swotting up further on the Rent2Own concept - perfect for these market conditions and a great cashflow generator!  But no, I have to go to London today.

After getting ready in a leisurely fashion, Steve will drop me off at our sleepy little station, and I’ll enjoy a largely empty train direct to Victoria.

I’m off to go to lunch at The Ivy, with Judith and Sue, Money Gym member and winner of our Women Talk theivyrestaurantlondon.jpgMoney Challenge, notably the person who increased her income by the most ££ in just three months.  Sue managed £25,000 plus - marvellous!

We always like to make prizes for clients at the Money Gym things that Judith and I want to do!!  Later this afternoon, we will be joined by Peter Stanley, of “Property Made Simple” fame, who is down from Manchester, and a member of my now defunct first mastermind team.  Not seen Peter for ages.

Then it’s off to the Rex Cinema in Rupert St, Soho, to meet my sister and enjoy the book launch for Michelle Magorian’s new book.

My opera singing sister Heather shared a house in Walthamstow with Michelle back in th 80’s - they were so poor in those days they literally had to break the ice in the loo due to NO CENTRAL HEATING!  Now Michelle is an acclaimed author with tomes including “Goodnight Mr Tom” starrring the late John Thaw in the film of, and she has a film deal sorted for the new book already.

Home again on the train, and as it will be a late night, I’ll have a lie in tomorrow, as I dont’ have to get up till the 11am Money Gym Wealth Surgery webinar for our Gold clients.

Why am I telling you all this?

And what does it have to do with our Internet Marketing workshop on Saturday? http://www.TheMoneyGym.com/MGPresents/internet1.htm

Because the reason I am able to enjoy this lifestyle is because, back in 1999 I bought the domain name www.NicolaCairncross.com, and from a book “HTML For The WorldWide Web” by Elizabeth Castro - still highly recommended, I learned out how to make a simple five page website, and started learning about something I was interested and passionate about - wealth creation.

I connected that simple website to a shopping cart, the same one I use today, http://viralurl.com/moneygym/totalbusinesscart allowing people to put their name and email in and unsubscribe themselves automatically.  At this stage I planned out the “101 Things” people need to know about money, and as I wrote them, I added them to an autoresponder in the shopping cart, so that new signups

I created a free Google group and mailed everyone I knew to join it, and also asked them to give me feedback on the 101 Tips, and discuss amongst themselves the various tips.  I also started writing a short weekly ezine, which I then stored on the website (this was the earliest form of blogging, looking back!)

My community grew and grew and this was The Money Gym in it’s earliest form.  Now we have a multi-product six figure business, with over 6000 ezine subscribers and nearly 1000 members at our membership site.  Every day, more people join our site and mailing list and now, at least 2-3 people a day start to follow me on Twitter.  Our videos on YouTube and Viddler have been seen by hundreds of people, and the vast majority of traffic to our website comes from a search done on the key phrase “Money Gym”.  They are coming from the vast amount of PR generated by our regular press releases on PRWeb.

But, none of this would have happened, if I had not taken the earliest steps back in 1998, right when the Dot Com bubble was reaching it’s peak. None of this would have happened if I’d stopped writing the ezine, discouraged by the Dot Com bubble bursting.

None of this would have happened if, during my up times and down times, my moves about the country then the world, my divorce, buying the hotel and selling it again, meeting Steve and Judith, starting up a company that went tits up, moving house nearly every six months for the last five years……if I had not written that ezine, week in, week out, and kept blogging about my topic of wealth creation.

I had to FORCE myself to do something, anything, every week, if not every day, to move this business forward.

Overnight success?  No chance…..every overnight success takes a good 10 years!!!  Ask any winner of X-Factor or Britains Got Talent!

Actually, it doesn’t have to take that long….lets’ say “A Journey of 1000 Steps” instead eh?  So that it can be as quick or slow as you want it.

But the 1000 steps don’t start - till you get started.  Till you take the first step.

So how do you take the first step and get started with making money online?  Just like I did, just like I did.  Everything changes in the online world, but everything stays the same.  Pick a topic, build a community of people who know who you are, what you stand for and what you love, and then keep in touch with them.

Here is the process that works just as well ten years later!  Or 1000 Steps later!

1.  Start a simple website (nowadays we recommend a blog, created for you by Marion Ryan, Steve Watson or Claire Raikes)

2.  Build a mailing list (nowadays we recommend Tim Brocklehurst’s largely automated and powerful viral system)

3.  Attach a shopping cart with autoresponder (nowadays we recommend http://viralurl.com/moneygym/totalbusinesscart

4.  Regularly add constantly updated relevent content - via your blog / Google Alerts

5.  If possible, every week, send out a short email, bringing people back to your blog

6.  Offer them things of value - information, workshops, tele-seminars, products, services.

If you really want to accelerate your journey, join us this Saturday where we will cover two of the elements for a successful online business - blogging and building a mailing list virally.

Start your journey with the first step this weekend http://www.TheMoneyGym.com/MGPresents/internet1.htm

And then I’ll see you at The Ivy…..!

Cheers Nicola

p.s. Don’t forget, we put the price up after the first X number of bookings - and as I looked this morning, there were just TWO early bird places left then your investment goes up by £50.

Still a bargain tho’ learning how to create a six figure business with barely any overheads…………. http://www.TheMoneyGym.com/MGPresents/internet1.htm
